I Started our business,  Get You In Shape, in 2006. We have helped thousands of clients look and feel 10 years younger.  It comes down to a few simple things.

1. People need a plan.

2. People need a coach to help hold them accountable to following that plan.

Coppell Personal Trainer Success Story: How Jeff  Ended the Weight Fluctuation Cycle for Good

If you’ve spent the last decade starting strong, falling off, and starting again — you’re not alone, and you’re not broken. You just haven’t had the right structure yet.

That’s exactly where Jeff found himself before he joined Get You In Shape. Jeff has spent the last 15 years in nonprofit organization management in the healthcare field. He lives in Carrollton with his family, and like a lot of high-performing professionals, he had no shortage of discipline in his career. It just hadn’t translated to consistency with his health.

Life Before Get You In Shape: The 20-Pound Cycle

Jeff’s story will sound familiar to a lot of men in their 40s and 50s. He wasn’t a stranger to the gym. He’d string together long stretches of consistent workouts and eating right, and he’d get real results. Then work, travel, kids, or illness would pull him in the opposite direction, and the routine would disappear.

The pattern repeated for years. His weight fluctuated within the same 20-pound range for over a decade. He’d get in good shape, then lose all of it “at the drop of a hat.” Before he found Get You In Shape, he’d been out of any routine for a long stretch — busy, a little overwhelmed, and trending the wrong direction.

How Jeff Found Get You In Shape

Jeff’s kids go to the same school as Brad’s, and the two met at a school event in the spring of 2024. Brad was handing out flyers for Get You In Shape . Jeff kept one on his desk for a few days before he finally decided to reach out.

It’s a reminder that word of mouth and genuine community presence, not ads, are still what move people to actually pick up the phone.

First Impressions: A Lot of Information, But Real Flexibility

Jeff will be the first to admit it.. at first, the amount of information felt like a lot.

Between the in-person sessions, the nutrition videos, and the fasting education, there was a learning curve. But the flexibility of the schedule made all the difference. With morning, evening, and virtual sessions to choose from, Jeff was able to stay consistent even on the weeks life got busy.. which, as anyone managing a career and a family knows, is most of them.

The Tools That Actually Moved the Needle

Two things stood out to Jeff early on:

Mindful eating and simple fasting guidance. Learning how and when to eat  without cutting out everything he loved .. was, in his words, “huge.” It’s the same approach Brad and the coaching team preach to every client: keep it simple, and you don’t need to overhaul your entire life overnight.

Minimal equipment, maximum consistency. Whether Jeff was training in person at the park, doing a session at home, or working out on the road, the message was the same — you don’t need a garage full of equipment to get real results. You need a plan and the discipline to follow it.

Why Outdoor Group Personal Training Was Different

Jeff had done personal training before, but always one-on-one or with a single training partner. Get You In Shape was his first experience with outdoor group personal training, and it changed how he thought about accountability.

Training outdoors at the park with a group of 7, 10, 15 people — all at different stages of their own fitness journey — created a sense of community that solo training never did. It’s one of the reasons clients who try group personal training outdoors rarely go back to a traditional gym setting.

The Results: 12 Pounds Down and a Routine That Sticks

Jeff lost 12 pounds in his first two months working with the Coppell Personal Trainer and Get You in Shape. More importantly, he broke the cycle. The version of consistency that used to last a few months before collapsing has held. He’s hit his target weight and maintained it — even through the summer, when the kids are out of school and mornings get more chaotic.

Now, a 5:30 or 6:30 a.m. class isn’t a hurdle. It’s something he looks forward to. He describes feeling “antsy” if he misses a day — not anxiety in a bad way, but the kind of pull that comes from a routine that’s finally become part of who he is, not just something he’s forcing himself to do.

Jeff’s Advice to Anyone Considering Get You In Shape

Jeff put it simply: you have nothing to lose. Meeting Brad, the other trainers, and the other clients is worth it on its own — and the structure, the group energy with the Coppell personal trainer, and the simplicity of the approach are what make it sustainable long after the first 12 weeks.

Ready to Break Your Own Cycle?

If you’ve spent years fluctuating within the same 15-20 pounds, chasing consistency but never quite landing it, Jeff’s story is proof that the missing piece usually isn’t willpower — it’s structure and accountability.
