Christian fitness Coach for men over 50
I started coaching in 1998 when I was getting my Master’s Degree.
I Started our business, Get You In Shape, in 2006. We have helped thousands of clients look and feel 10 years younger. It comes down to a few simple things.
1. People need a plan.
2. People need a coach to help hold them accountable to following that plan.
We would love to help you look and feel 10 Years Younger.
50 Years of Showing Up..A Life Anchored in Faith and Movement
Tomorrow I turn 50.
And while the world might view that as a sign of slowing down
I see it as a moment to pause and reflect
A moment to thank God for how He has used movement and discipline in my life
Not just to help me stay in shape
But to help me grow as a man
As a beloved some of the most high God.
As a husband
As a father
This is not just a story about the last six months
It is the result of decades of showing up with purpose
Fitness in My Teens Twenties and Thirties
My fitness journey started early
Even in my teenage years I leaned on movement as a way to cope with stress
It gave me structure
It helped me clear my head
And it provided a healthy outlet for everything life was throwing at me
Eventually
That commitment opened the door for me to play college basketball
And later
To play professionally overseas
In those early years
Fitness was tied to performance
It was about being competitive
Getting stronger
Faster
Better
But over time
I realized fitness had been doing more than preparing me for the game
It was shaping who I was becoming
It helped me stay mentally grounded.
Emotionally steady.
It was the one constant that helped me stay disciplined.
And spiritually connected when everything else felt uncertain.
My Road to 50 Challenge
Six months ago
I decided to give myself a challenge
Something to mark my 50th birthday with intention
I called it my Road to 50
It was not about getting a six pack
Or hitting a number on the scale
It was about recommitting to the habits that have helped me stay healthy
Lead well
And honor God through my body.
6 Lessons I Learned on My Road to 50
1. I Recommitted to My Why
Purpose fuels everything
I revisited my Why’s or “So That” statements.
So that I have energy to play with my kids
So that I can be God’s light to others.
So that I lead, motivate and encourage others with clarity and integrity
So that I can honor God with the body He gave me
So that I can be a better husband and father
So That I can be fit and healthy as my kids get other and for my future grandkids.
Your why matters.
When motivation fades.
Purpose keeps you going.
2. I Focused on Consistency Not Perfection
I was not perfect over the last six months
But I was consistent
I followed a simple weekly rhythm
Three total body strength workouts
Two days of light movement and focused body parts
One cardio-focused session
One full rest day
Some weeks looked different
But I stayed committed
The goal was not to do it all
It was to do something consistently
3. I Moved With Purpose
Every movement mattered
Not just for physical health
But for mental and emotional clarity
Some days I trained hard
Other days I went on walks with my kids
Sometimes I moved just to reset my mind
Movement has become a spiritual practice for me
A way to be present
A way to clear my thoughts
And often
A way to connect with God.
4. I Fueled My Body to Serve
Nutrition was not about rules
It was about energy.
I focused on foods that helped me feel strong and clear minded.
I kept it simple.
Protein at every meal.
Whole foods.
Plenty of water and electrolytes
Intermittent fasting most days
And a plan each week so I did not have to guess.
Eating well helped me show up better in every area of my life
It was not about being strict
It was about being intentional.
5. I Stayed Grounded in My Faith
This was not just a physical challenge
It was a spiritual one
I started my days with prayer and Scripture
I asked for strength when I lacked it
And I gave thanks when I felt good
Fitness has always been connected to my faith
Caring for my body is a form of worship
1 Corinthians 6 verse 19 says
Your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit
Honor God with your body
I took that seriously
Especially on the days I wanted to skip or coast
6. I Leaned Into Accountability
Motivation is fleeting
But accountability lasts
That is why I stayed connected to a structure
I tracked my habits
Shared my journey with others
And followed the same system I use with my clients
I kept showing up
Even when it was not convenient
Even when no one was watching
You do not need more information.
You need a reason.
And a framework that keeps you aligned.
2010 vs 2025 Same Wall Different Season
This week I stood in front of the same brick wall where I took a photo in 2010
Same pose
Same spot
Different season
In 2010 I had no kids and more time.
In 2025 I have seven kids
A full life.
More responsibilities.
More weight to carry.
A lot more weight.
But I also have more clarity
More gratitude
More joy
And more strength
I am not chasing youth
I am chasing purpose
And I feel stronger today in mind body and spirit than I did at 35.
Turning 50 is not an ending
It is a reminder
That stewardship of your health is one of the most powerful ways to lead
To serve
And to honor God
You do not have to be perfect
You do not have to be extreme
You just have to be willing to take the next step
